Dr. Paul Cinalli
Alvernon & 5th
Dr. Cinalli has been in practice for 33 years (1981) and has been with Alvernon Optical since 1992. He especially enjoys helping those who have special contact lens needs. He enjoys playing guitar, bicycling, hiking and reading.

Dr. Cinalli graduated from West Virginia University as well was Salus Universtiy (formerly Pennsylvania College of Optometry) in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania. He is a member of the Southern Arizona Optometric Society.

Dr. Brianna Farley

Brianna Farley, O.D. received her Doctor of Optometry from The Ohio State University’s College of Optometry in 2020 and earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Concord University in Athens, West Virginia.  Her special fields of interest include medical and pediatric eye exams, myopia control, and treatment of amblyopia.

Dr. Farley developed a strong interest in optometry after spending time shadowing her hometown optometrist. 

She was fascinated by how much an eye exam could reveal about a person’s overall health.  She knew that she wanted to be part of a profession in which she could evaluate and treat specific eye conditions and also monitor the impact that overall health issues have on the eyes.

Building strong relationships with her patients is particularly important to Dr. Farley because she loves treating her patients like they are family.  She enjoys being able to take time to completely understand their visual needs and helping to provide them with solutions for their best vision.

In her spare time away from the office, Dr. Farley enjoys weightlifting, traveling, cooking, and spending time with her two dogs.

Dr. James Murphy

Dr. Murphy has been in practice for 42 years (1972) and has been with Alvernon Optical since 2011. He has participated in medical eye missions to Africa, Russia, Central America, South America and Mexico. His vast experience includes eleven years as an emergency room eye trauma doctor. Dr. Murphy’s special interests include being a pilot.

Dr. Murphy is a graduate of Pacific University College of Optometry – Forest Grove, Oregon.

Dr. Sharon Peterson

Dr. Peterson has been in practice for 30 years (1984) and has been with Alvernon Optical since 2011. She enjoys nutrition and anti-aging, gardening and ballroom dancing.

Dr. Peterson graduated from Purdue University as well as Indiana University School of Optometry in Bloomington, Indiana. She is a member of the Arizona Optometric Association and Southern Arizona Optometric Society.

Dr. Laura Schillig
Green Valley, Alvernon & 5th
Dr. Schillig has been in practice for 16 years (2003) and she joined Alvernon Optical in 2019. She enjoys working with children and adults to help optimize their vision. Outside of the office, she enjoys baking, reading, and spending time with her family.

Dr. Schillig graduated from Ohio State University College of Optometry in Columbus, OH.

Dr. Carol Schulte

Dr. Carol Schulte has been practicing optometry since 1992, after graduating from the Southern California College of Optometry at Marshall B. Ketchum University. She is a seasoned optometrist who specializes in primary eye care and who – in her spare time – enjoys crafting and visiting her family.

Fun fact about Dr. Schulte: she holds an undergraduate degree in Medical Technology which she received from the University of Hawaii in Manoa, Oahu.

Dr. Paul Schwartz

Dr. Schwartz has been in practice for 34 years (1986). He recently moved to Arizona, leaving his long time practice in Ithaca, NY. He has participated in eyecare missions to Bolivia, Mexico, and Honduras. Outside of the office, he enjoys golf, mountain biking, horseback riding with his wife, and travelling.

Dr. Schwartz graduated from Hamilton College and received his doctorate from the State University of New York, College of Optometry, in NYC.

Dr. Theresa Setlock

Dr. Setlock has been in practice for 26 years (1988) and has been with Alvernon Optical since 2011. She enjoys movies, traveling and spending time with her husband and daughter.

Dr. Setlock graduated from Pennsylvania State University as well as Pacific University College of Optometry in Forest Grove, Oregon. She is a member of the American Optometric Society (founding member), Arizona Optometric Association, Southern Arizona Optometric Society, and American Optometric Association.

Dr. David Tetrault

Dr. Tetrault has been in practice for 29 years (1990) and has been with Alvernon Optical since 1999.

Dr. Tetrault is a graduate of the University of Arizona as well as the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago. His professional memberships includge: the American Optometric Association, Arizona Optometric Association, and Southern Arizona Optometric Society.

Dr. Richard Baim

Dr. Richard Baim received his doctor of optometry degree (O.D.) in 1983 and his bachelor of visual science degree (B.S.V.S.) in 1981 from the Illinois College of Optometry. His under graduate degree, bachelor of science (B.S.), from the University of Arizona was presented in 1978. Dr. Baim has been employed in many different facets of optometry prior to opening his own office, Silverbell Eyecare Center, in 1990. Dr. Baim was the co-head of optometry for Cigna of Tucson and the Indian Health Services at Sells and San Xavier. He also was the staff optometrist for Westside Eye Physicians, the opthalmology practice of Dr. Sidney Cotner. Since 1985, Dr. Baim has been the team optometrist for the University of Arizona athletic department and in the past has been an eyecare consultant to the Tucson Toros, USA baseball, Pima Community College, Tucson SideWinders, and various professional athletes.

Dr. Baim’s is motivated by his need to provide comprehensive eyecare to patients in a friendly, thorough,and compassionate manner and one not dependent on time constraints. Dr. Baim enjoys educating his patients about their examination and visual concerns. Whether it’s answering questions or explaining the examination results, Dr. Baim is more than happy to spend the quality time he feels all patients deserve.
